RSS™ Rucksack Stretcher System

NextPrevious

Price: £498

The RSS™ looks like a day sack or emergency grab bag. But it is much more.

Rucksack Stretcher System 1 The RSS™ has the unique ability to wholly unzip to become an emergency stretcher that can be used with or without a specially designed lightweight backboard to support a casualty.

In an emergency, a casualty at risk of imminent life-threatening complications can be placed on the stretcher and lifted immediately to clear a danger zone. Once out of immediate danger, the stretcher’s integral straps can be secured to keep the casualty immobile.

Rucksack Stretcher System 2 Backboard (Optional)
The RSS™ can be purchased with or without a fitted backboard. The backboard slips into a discreet internal pocket of the rucksack without altering the shape, and invisibly adds to the protection of any equipment carried inside.

The RSS™ can be used to evacuate casualties with injuries ranging from unconsciousness and fractures to potential back injuries. The backboard has extendable foot and head supports to cater for different heights.

Rucksack Stretcher System 3 Detachable Side Pouches (2 day sack)
The RSS™ has two external side pouches, each with an attached shoulder/belt strap. When unzipped from the main rucksack, the pouches can be zipped together to form a smaller day sack that can be carried either over both shoulders or around the waist.

The contents of the RSS™ main compartment are then transferred into these side pouches for carrying, and/or distributed amongst other members of the team.

Rucksack Stretcher System 4 Detachable First Aid ‘Bum Bag’ (Optional)
The RSS™ has an optional external first aid “bum bag” which can also be unzipped from the RSS™ and carried around the waist should the rucksack need to be used as a stretcher. Essential first aid supplies can be carried in the “bum bag” for use in the field.

Once clipped around the waist, the bag rolls down the wearer’s leg to display first aid supplies in three clear plastic compartments.

Rucksack Stretcher System 5 Casualty Lifting
Warning: Although a casualty suspected of suffering from a spinal injury should not be moved, in extreme life-threatening situations you may need to evacuate a casualty from an area of immediate danger, such as a fire or collapsed building. The stretcher built in to the RSS™ will assist in reducing the risk of further injury to the casualty. This emergency stretcher system is not designed to replace the use of paramedic or emergency services’ stretchers, if those are available. The nature of the injury will determine how best to strap and secure the casualty into the system prior to evacuation.

Rucksack Stretcher System 6 In stretcher mode, the RSS™ can be configured for lifting by two, three, four or more people.

The RSS™ can be used as an improvised field stretcher using poles – for example strong branches or scaffolding poles – which, when inserted in all of the lifting handles enable a comfortable two- or four-person lift.

Once securely strapped in, the casualty can be lifted horizontally, vertically and even upside down, or can be turned on their side for first aid purposes or to easily negotiate difficult evacuations, for example in tight spaces.

RSS 2 The RSS™ is ideally suited to use in most aircraft, including helicopters.  The casualty is strapped into the RSS™ and then secured to the strong points on the aircraft floor.

When not in use, the RSS™ can be clipped to the seat structures of aircraft using the RSS™ quick-release buckles, and stored alongside other emergency and safety equipment on the aircraft.

RSS Helo C With the backboard integrated into the RSS™, the bag can carry essential emergency safety and rescue items in case the aircraft needs to ditch. The pilot, crewman or passenger can quickly release the RSS™ and exit the aircraft, using the RSS™ as an emergency survival ‘grab bag’, which can include first aid equipment, emergency food and water, the 5S™ (Survival / Shelter / Stretcher / Signalling / Sleeping System), spare maps and compasses, GPS, essential survival tools, e.g. waterproof matches / cooking utensil / fishing equipment / string, etc / multi-tool / emergency navigation beacon, radio, etc.
