Course updates
Centurion has been delivering HEFAT® training since 1993. Over the past 18 years we have trained more than 20,000 people. While many have returned for Refresher training, we would like to encourage others to come back and update their certificates (valid 3 years).
We feel it is very important to keep training and skills up to date because:
- Our courses are continually reviewed and changed in line with evolving world risk factors. Recent training has included lessons learned from earthquakes and Tsunamis (e.g. Haiti and Japan), increased risk from cultural or political uprisings (e.g. Egypt, Libya, Tunisia) and new risk trends around the world (e.g. suicide bombings, IEDs, VBIEDs etc). We also include advice about SGBV (Sexual and Gender Based Violence), and updates on best practices in first aid training. There are a number of HEFAT® and Refresher courses scheduled annually, and a list of dates till the end of 2011 is given below.
- First Aid training is generally accepted to be valid for 3 years (in line with HSE requirements on first aid training). But there are new lessons that can be conveyed from what has been learned in the military field hospitals of Iraq and Afghanistan, e.g. the accepted lifesaving use of tourniquets and haemostatic agents, etc. It is very important that delegates are confident about using such equipment correctly, and that first aid skills in general are kept up to date.
- By undertaking a 2-day Refresher course, you can extend your certificate for a further 3 years.
- Centurion can now give 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work certificates to all clients attending the 5-day HEFAT and 2-day HEFAT Refresher courses. This is a qualification recognised by the HSE, and is given in addition to our own certificate of training.
- CONDO Training is now required annually. We offer 3 types of course – High Risk, Lower Risk, and Refresher.
Centurion can also offer a number of tailored, stand-alone training courses including
- Security Management Training
- Mini-HEFAT® Training
- Aid Agency Training
- NGO Training
- Pre-Olympics Training
- Region- or task-specific training.
