Centurion offers Olympics Safety Awareness Training

Between 27 July and 9 September more than 14,000 athletes from 205 nations will compete in 26 different sports, taking place at over 30 venues in London and across the UK.  Nearly eight million sports fans will attend the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which promises to be the greatest sporting event in UK history.

For the UK’s Security Forces, securing the Games will be a colossal task.  The Games will take place at a time when the threat level to the UK from international terrorism is described as “Substantial” and a terrorist threat “a strong possibility”. UK Security Forces must consider everything from counter-terrorism to crowd-management, from serious crime policing to emergency planning, in their remit to protect the athletes, spectators and the general public.  Disrupting the Games would present a major opportunity to any terrorist group wishing to make an impact in front of the world.

Nearly 20,000 members of the world’s media, many of them sports journalists and specialist Olympics teams, are expected to cover the event.

Centurion is running a series of Olympics Safety Awareness courses.  The intensive 2-day course covers the following specially tailored subjects, aimed at helping people remain alert, and respond correctly should a hostile event taking place:

  • Basic Risk Assessment
  • 2012 Olympics Security Review
  • The Urban Terrorist Threat
  • Emergency First Aid including Disaster Scene Injuries
