Location

Oceania, group of islands in the South Pacific Ocean, about three-quarters of the way from Hawaii to Australia.

Problems
Personal security, general travel, navigation, hot weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation/sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, cultures/customs, communications, emergency shelters. Consumption of alcohol is not permitted outside licensed premises.
Water
Bottled water is recommended.
Terrain
Mostly mountainous islands of volcanic origin; narrow coastal plains.
Climate
Tropical; moderated by south-east trade winds from May to October; moderate rainfall from November to April; may be affected by cyclones from December to April.
Natural Hazards
Tropical cyclones or typhoons (January to April); volcanism causes minor earthquakes; tsunamis.
Health Issues
Hepatitis A, malaria, polio, typhoid.
Environmental Issues
A majority of the population does not have access to a reliable supply of potable water; deforestation.
