Safe to drink in resorts / hotels and the capital - use bottled water everywhere else.

Lack of important arterial rivers or lakes requires extensive water conservation and control measures; growth in water usage outpacing supply; pollution of rivers from agricultural runoff and urban discharge; air pollution resulting in acid rain; soil erosion; desertification.
The standard of driving in South Africa can vary greatly and there are many fatal accidents. Drive cautiously at all times. Overtaking can occur in any lane including the hard shoulder.
