Although crime rates are low, you should be aware that theft, assault and rape occur. Safe to drink in cities, hotels and resorts. Use bottled water in the rural areas.

Cyclones (November to April); almost completely surrounded by reefs that may pose maritime hazards.

Driving standards vary and there are frequent though minor accidents. After dark, pedestrians and unlit two-wheeled vehicles can be a particular hazard.
