Location

Southern Europe, islands in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily.

Crime rate low, although bag snatching, pickpocketing and theft from parked cars occur. Vehicle security, personal security, general travel, navigation, building / office security, hot weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation / sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, cultures / customs.

Local water is safe to drink.

Mostly low, rocky, flat to dissected plains; many coastal cliffs.

Mediterranean with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers.

Very limited natural fresh water resources; increasing reliance on desalination.

Caution should be exercised whilst driving as some roads are in a poor state of repair. Main roads are in reasonable condiiton. Local driving standards are poor.
