Location
Eastern Asia, southern half of the Korean Peninsula bordering the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea.
Crime against foreigners is rare, but there are occasional isolated incidents. Exercise normal safety precautions. Vehicle security, personal security, checkpoints, general travel, navigation, off road driving, building / office security, climate injuries, health & hygiene, sanitation / sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, helicopter safety, cultures / customs, communications, straining relations - north / south, military activity.
Use bottled water only.
Mostly hills and mountains; wide coastal plains in west and south.
Temperate, with rainfall heavier in summer than winter.
Occasional typhoons bring high winds and floods; low-level seismic activity common in south-west.

South Korea has one of the highest rates of traffic death in the world. Car and motorcycles are presumed to be at fault in accidents involving motorcycles or pedestrians. Taxi drivers tend to speak little or no English. Have your destination written in Korean. You should watch out for motorcycles travelling at speed on pavements.
