Location

Eastern Asia, bordering the South China Sea and China.

Problems
The incidence of violent crime is very low but pickpocketing and other street crime can occur in urban areas. Vehicle security, personal security, general travel, navigation, off road driving, hot weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation / sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, cultures / customs, communications, emergency shelters.
Water
Local water is pretty safe nearly everywhere. If in doubt, use bottled water only.
Terrain
Hilly to mountainous with steep slopes; lowlands in north.
Climate
Tropical monsoon; cool and humid in winter, hot and rainy from spring through summer, warm and sunny in autumn.
Natural Hazards
Occasional typhoons, flooding and landslides. Typhoon season April to October.
Health Issues
Avian influenza, hepatitis A, polio, SARS, typhoid, may have malaria in rural areas.
