Location
Oceania, island group in the South Pacific Ocean, about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand.
Robberies, thefts and assaults have occurred on foreigners in Fiji. Women travelling alone should exercise caution. Personal security, general travel, navigation, off road driving, hot weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation / sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, cultures / customs, communications, emergency shelters. Beachwear is not acceptable in towns.
Local water is safe, but ideally use bottled water.
Mostly mountains of volcanic origin.
Tropical marine; only slight seasonal temperature variation.
Cyclonic storms can occur from November to January. Earthquakes, flashfloods, landslides, tsunami.

Traffic discipline is poor. Night-time driving is considered to be particularly hazardous as animals wander and sleep on the roads and accidents are frequent. If using a taxi pick those with yellow number plates. This denotes recent compliance with the Land Transport Authority.
