Incidents of mugging and banditry, often armed, are a serious problem throughout Cameroon. Regular kidnapping, car-jackings and robberies, often armed and accompanied by violent acts. Local groups, weapons (various), ballistics danger areas, vehicle security, personal security, ambushes, kidnappings, bandits/corruption, gunfire, legal/illegal checkpoints, armed robberies, general travel, navigation, off road driving, building/office security, hot weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation/sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, helicopter safety, terrorism, cultures/customs, communications, emergency shelters.

Diverse, with coastal plain in south-west, dissected plateau in centre, mountains in west, plains in north.
Varies with terrain, from tropical along coast to semi-arid and hot in north.
Volcanic activity with periodic releases of poisonous gases from Lake Nyos and Lake Monoun volcanoes.

Waterborne diseases are prevalent; deforestation; overgrazing; desertification; poaching; overfishing.
Roads are generally in poor condition. Many badly potholed, and street lighting, where it exists, is poor. Most vehicles are poorly lit and badly driven. Exercise caution at all times and lock doors.
