Location

Southern Asia, between China and India.

Problems
Notoriously difficult to get into. Visas difficult to come by. Travel restricted to restricted areas. Dress code is fairly strictly adhered to for locals. Religion has a strong influence on traditional ways of life. Personal security, general travel, navigation, off road driving, cold weather injuries, personal hygiene, sanitation/sterilisation, clothing & equipment, emergency first aid, cultures/customs, communications, emergency shelters, terrain.

Use bottled water only.
Terrain
Mostly mountainous with some fertile valleys and savannah.
Climate
Varies; tropical in southern plains; cool winters and hot summers in central valleys; severe winters and cool summers in Himalayas.
Natural Hazards
Violent storms from the Himalayas are the source of the country's name which translates as Land of the Thunder Dragon; frequent landslides during the rainy season.
Health Issues
Altitude sickness, cholera, hepatitis A, malaria present in some areas, meningitis, polio, rabies, typhoid, yellow fever.
