Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
This course aims to ensure that all members of staff can identify and deal with clinical emergencies within the workplace, and safely use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The course includes dealing with unconscious casualties, airway obstructions, and respiratory and circulatory arrest. Participants will have the opportunity to practice Basic Life Support (BLS) and the correct use of AEDs.
The course has been designed for any member of staff who may be called upon as a "First Responder" in an emergency situation.
The following are covered:
- Safety Hazards
- Care of an unconscious casualty
- Airway management
- Basic Life Support (theory and practical)
- Basic understanding of the heart and conduction systems
- Basic cardiac arrhythmias
- Safe use of AED
- Care, maintenance and record keeping of AED
- Post-resuscitation care
- Resuscitation equipment
- Legal and ethical issues
- Full certification of AED training.
This 5-hour course can be delivered at Centurion's training location or at the client's premises.
Centurion's AED training is delivered in accordance with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Competencies in Adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators.
