1-day Defibrillation course

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the main cause of death in the UK.  It is responsible for 38% of all deaths.  Cardiac arrest is the biggest killer in this country.  Over 150,000 die as a result of heart attacks.  Many lives could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available.  Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are becoming more common throughout workplaces, but they require qualified personnel to use them successfully.

This very practical course will allow suitably qualified First Aid personnel to use the AED competently and with confidence.  The course also revises some basic First Aid skills including resuscitation.

COURSE DURATION

This is a 6-hour course consisting of theory and practical work followed by an assessment.

CERTIFICATION

The course includes a formal assessment at the start of the day, to ensure that delegates can resuscitate effectively.  There is also an assessment at the end of the course including the practical use of the AED.

Certificates are valid for 12 months, before expiry of which delegates should return for refresher training.
