Centurion prepares people mentally and practically for dangerous work in extreme conditions. Our hostile environments training and risk assessment and emergency first aid courses are designed mostly for clients in the news media, international organisations, humanitarian aid agencies, charities and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and commercial businesses.
Whatever their needs, we are committed to satisfying our growing network of customers by providing them with innovative risk assessment and training solutions of the highest standard that are practical, relevant and based on recent front-line experience.
We heighten our clients’ awareness of hidden dangers and emphasise the vital importance of accurately identifying and assessing risks to safety and security in a wide variety of scenarios likely to be encountered in the course of their work in hostile environments.
Training delivery is deliberately ‘hands-on’ and practical in nature. This reflects the fact that our clients primarily work in the field, rather than offices, are likely to be travelling and working in areas with poor or non-existent infrastructure and support systems, and risk assessments will necessarily need to adapt throughout their assignment, not only on a weekly or daily basis, but in some situations minute-by-minute.
We therefore design the training to teach delegates skills throughout the week that will enable them continually to assess the risk of their situation, and that of their colleagues, based on known and developing risk factors.
The use of practical, hands-on training quickly establishes teamwork and a rapport between the delegates and the instructors, and importantly enables people to make ‘safe mistakes’ i.e. in a controlled environment. They are able to react as they naturally would in the field, or have done in the past, and learn from our instructors some alternative reactions that offer a greater degree of personal safety. It is an enjoyable way of learning, and through these methods the training messages are more quickly and effectively absorbed.
